## S1 — approved launch notice, September 18, 2026

Riverside Library's Tool Library opens Tuesday, November 3, 2026, at the Main Branch lending desk. Lending hours are Tuesday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Library cardholders age 18 or older may borrow up to two tools for seven days. One renewal is allowed when no other borrower has placed a hold. Borrowing is free; replacement charges apply only to tools that are lost or damaged. Reservations open October 27 through an online catalog, but the catalog URL has not been supplied. Walk-in availability is not guaranteed. A 15-minute safety orientation is required at pickup for power tools. The launch collection contains 86 tools across home repair, yard care, bicycle maintenance and power-tool categories. Inventory can change, and availability of a particular tool is not guaranteed.

## S2 — approved inventory report, September 16, 2026

The launch inventory has 28 hand tools, 24 yard-care tools, 18 bicycle-maintenance tools and 16 power tools, totaling 86 individual tools. These are tool counts, not kits or expected borrower counts. Twelve tools were donated by individual residents. Seventy-four tools were purchased through an approved city equipment grant. The report identifies no commercial sponsor. Because lending has not begun, there is no evidence yet about usage, money saved, demand, satisfaction, repair outcomes or environmental benefits.

## S3 — approved operations FAQ, September 18, 2026

Borrowers must show their library card and photo identification at pickup. Tools must be returned to the Main Branch lending desk, not a book drop. A late return pauses additional tool borrowing until the item is returned; there is no daily late fee. Staff inspect tools after return, and borrowers should report damage when returning an item. The service does not provide delivery or after-hours returns. A waitlist may be created for an individual tool, but no tool is guaranteed by a particular date.

## S4 — superseded planning draft, September 5, 2026

Proposed opening October 20 with 100 tools, a three-tool limit, 14-day loans, a $10 membership fee, guaranteed walk-in borrowing and a 24-hour return box. Every one of these proposed details was superseded by S1 and S3.

## Assignment limits

Prepare a 250–350-word newsletter for adult Riverside Library members and one X draft of at most 280 Unicode code points. Human publication approval remains pending. Do not invent a catalog URL, partners, sponsors, demand, savings, popularity, usage, outcomes, quotations, guarantees, environmental claims, staff names, delivery options or registration availability. Preserve the distinction among tools, categories, kits and borrowers.
