Daily Life Desk
Put the day's information, small personal goals, and buying questions in one manageable plan.
Set up the crew and pass the results between Bots yourself. The recorded sample uses simulated text handoffs; separate Bots have not run it in Hermes or Grok.
This extends an existing Crew Kit. It does not replace that kit’s download.
When to use this crew
Use this crew when you want help with a daily brief, habits and buying decisions. Each Bot needs different information. For a newspaper alone, use Daily Newspaper. For one buying comparison, use Researcher.
The jobs
- Chief of Staff
Organize the user's chosen priorities and keep household decisions in one list.
- Daily Newspaper
Prepare a short edition from the selected day's material.
- Habit Coach
Fit a chosen everyday habit into the free time supplied.
- Researcher
Compare approved buying options using total cost and applicable terms.
What you will need
Copied calendar entries and selected messages; chosen habit and available time; buying question and price records; household limits. Keep personal material separate from business crews.
Set up and run
- Select only the roles this job needs. Existing role links lead to Cabinet's current setup pages; new role links contain full manual-test instructions.
- Put each selected role in its own conversation or Bot. Paste the new role's Role instructions section, or add the task extension below to an existing role. These files are not native import archives or add-to-app links.
- Start with the fictional first task below. Supply the same approved source records to each role that needs them. A copied handoff alone is not evidence for a factual claim.
- Pass reviewed results in the order below. If your app lacks Bot-to-Bot handoff, copy the small handoff yourself. Do not assume a shared folder, tool connection, or group conversation creates separate security boundaries.
- Record each actual answer and failed attempt. Review before connecting real accounts or adding a schedule. Set read-only access and service-side cost caps where available; these written limits cannot enforce a billing cap.
Pass the work in this order
- Chief of Staff lists the day's requested questions and confirmed owners from the user's brief; the user decides any missing priority or assignment.
- Daily Newspaper prepares the edition; Habit Coach separately returns the habit plan; Researcher separately returns the comparison.
- Chief of Staff lists conflicts, decisions, and the next action. It must not silently revise appointments or purchases.
- The person approves any calendar change, purchase, printing, or reminder.
Use this handoff
- Task and current version:
- Approved source records:
- Result and its status: draft, checked, or approved:
- Unresolved questions:
- Next owner and action:
- External action awaiting specific approval:
If a role cannot finish, it returns the missing input or failed attempt. The next role must not manufacture a success record.
First task
Fictional day: review meeting at 9:30 a.m., lunch at noon, reading goal of 15 minutes, free time at 8:30 p.m. Two identical lamps cost $40 plus $8 delivery and $45 with free delivery; both prices include tax. Prepare the brief, reading plan, and comparison. No private accounts, scheduling, printing, or buying.
Check the result
- Keeps the meeting and lunch times exactly as supplied.
- Fits reading into the free slot and proposes a fallback.
- Compares $48 with $45 and notes the $3 difference.
- Combines the results without treating drafts as approved actions.
Read the sample answer and checks
Sample written in Codex on October 6, 2026. The same assistant wrote and checked the answer. This is not an independent review or a Hermes or Grok app test.
Original answer
Text-only crew simulation. The named roles below are responsibility labels, not separate Bot conversations or security boundaries. Source of factual claims: the original daily-life-desk.md First task, not the simulated handoff.
Chief of Staff intake: requested outputs are a day brief, a 15-minute reading plan, and a lamp cost comparison. Confirmed supplied times are review meeting 9:30 a.m., lunch noon, and free time 8:30 p.m. The user has supplied a reading goal, not a completion record or calendar approval. No separate household owner or priority ranking is supplied.

- 9:30 a.m.: review meeting. Source: fictional day record.
- Noon: lunch. Source: fictional day record.
- Reading goal: 15 minutes; free time is supplied at 8:30 p.m. Source: fictional day record.
Review note: the fictional day has no date, timezone, meeting location/link, or appointment durations. No missing link or private-message content was invented. No edition was printed, scheduled, or distributed. Inspiration credit: Karen X. Cheng.
Habit Coach proposed plan: at 8:30 p.m., choose the reading material and read for 15 minutes, finishing at 8:45 p.m. if that full interval is free. Proposed completion measure: 15 minutes spent reading; the goal is planned and completion is unknown. Set the book or document within reach beforehand if useful. Material and available interval length are unspecified. No reminder has been created and no medical advice is involved.
Researcher comparison of supplied price snapshots
| Option | Item | Delivery | Total including tax |
|---|---|---|---|
| Lamp A | $40 | $8 | $48 |
| Lamp B | $45 | $0 | $45 |
The lamps are described as identical; Lamp B costs $3 less delivered ($48 − $45 = $3). Both stated prices include tax, so no additional tax is added. Delivery timing, return terms, warranties, stock, and other fees are not supplied. This is a calculation from fictional price records, not live price research or purchase approval.
Chief of Staff final brief: keep the supplied meeting and lunch times; propose reading at 8:30–8:45 p.m.; Lamp B is the cheaper supplied delivered-price option. No conflict is evident from the start times alone, but the missing durations prevent a complete conflict check. The next owner is the user: confirm a 15-minute free interval and reading material, and decide whether the supplied buying terms are sufficient. Calendar edits, reminders, printing, distribution, and purchases are not authorized by this brief and none occurred.
Sources used: original daily-life-desk.md First task; role behavior from its task extensions, habit-coach.md Role instructions, and canonical Chief of Staff, Daily Newspaper, and Researcher definitions. Household information was not passed to a business crew.
Checklist results
- pass: Keeps the meeting and lunch times exactly as supplied. — Original answer preserves review meeting at 9:30 a.m. and lunch at noon.
- fail: Fits reading into the free slot and proposes a fallback. — Original answer proposes 8:30–8:45 p.m. but provides no fallback. A separate retained revised attempt adds one.
- pass: Compares $48 with $45 and notes the $3 difference. — Original answer calculates totals $48 and $45 and difference $3.
- pass: Combines the results without treating drafts as approved actions. — Final brief preserves proposed reading and purchase decision status; no scheduling, printing or buying occurred.

That replacement time is unknown; ask the user to choose it rather than creating another appointment. Keep completion unknown until the user reports reading. No reminder has been created and no medical advice is involved.

Task instructions for existing Bots and run limits
Chief of Staff
Keep the existing Bot's role and boundaries. For this crew: Organize the user's chosen priorities and keep household decisions in one list. Keep confirmed priorities, owners, decisions, and next actions together. The user chooses priorities and assignments; propose choices when they are missing. Do not promote a suggestion into an approval. Use only the input assigned to you for this task. Return the result, supporting records, unresolved questions, and next owner. A handoff does not approve an external action.
Daily Newspaper
Keep the existing Bot's role and boundaries. For this crew: Prepare a short edition from the selected day's material. Make a short personal edition from selected records, with source notes. Keep missing or conflicting facts in a review note. Ask before schedules, distribution, or printing. Preserve the Karen X. Cheng inspiration credit. Use only the input assigned to you for this task. Return the result, supporting records, unresolved questions, and next owner. A handoff does not approve an external action.
Researcher
Keep the existing Bot's role and boundaries. For this crew: Compare approved buying options using total cost and applicable terms. Check a defined question against the original approved records. Return evidence, source references, and gaps. Label supplied snapshots separately from current live research. Use only the input assigned to you for this task. Return the result, supporting records, unresolved questions, and next owner. A handoff does not approve an external action.
Run limits
One manual run. Maximum two supplied product options. No paid research, device connection, or scheduled routine.
Stop when the task finishes, a required input is missing, a tool fails, or an action needs new approval. No automatic retries. No new credentials, private connectors, external messages, purchases, publishing, or deployment are part of the sample.
Finished output
One daily summary, one small habit plan, and one cost comparison.
Workflow written by Bot Cabinet. Inspired by Life on Autopilot, from the supplied @unicodef1wn chart. Read the source notes. See Grok’s official guides for setup and sharing instructions.
